Starting on August 23rd, 2003, I rolled my bicycle down my driveway and began pedalling away from my house in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. I reached Atlanta, Georgia on September 4th, and then returned home by September 21st, after a full 30 days out on the road.

Beyond successful completion of the trip, one of my main goals was to provide frequent updates to this website as the trip progressed. It was a way for people who know me to keep an eye on me, and perhaps some people who don't know me will still find the things I wrote about interesting enough to follow along. Also, it's provided a great record for my own memories.
